From mid-August to mid-November (and likely Feb – July) our church started doing hybrid services. Our former space of Sheridan School was not an option because the school distract canceled rentals and the air ventilation would have been pretty risky.

Pastor Steph found a wedding venue down the road from our old site that was a huge space for folks to spread out in. We negotiated a bulk rate and started gathering their every other week.

There is no storage on site, so everything is hauled in from a trailer. I was in charge of taking the equipment and figuring out how to get everything we needed on site and get it in the trailer. Each ‘on’ week, we’d set up sound equipment, a projector screen, and a live stream with a four-camera shoot. It’s a lot of gear to get up and maintain. But to do two services well is one of the best ways we can serve our community.

I really didn’t want to be careful that when we started, we didn’t start doing two things poorly, so we worked really hard at thinking about this as producing two services at the same time. We doubled up on roles: IE A sound person for the online service and a sound person for the participants in the room, a greeter for both, etc.
